Corduroy is what replaces linen when the weather turns. Same easy wear, four times the warmth, and it looks better with age rather than worse.
These are a cotton-blend wale, cut relaxed through the leg on an elasticated drawstring waist, with pockets that hold what you actually carry. The wale gives them weight and texture, so they hang properly instead of flapping the way flat cotton does in wind.
With a flannel shirt now, with a knit over it in November.
