Double-breasted means two layers of cloth across your chest. That is why sailors wore it, and why it is still the warmest cut there is.
This is pure wool, closed with six horn buttons, with notch lapels and deep patch pockets you can bury your hands in. A relaxed tailored fit leaves room for a knit underneath without the buttons pulling.
A double-breasted coat is worn done up — open, it flaps. If you want a coat to wear loose, this is not it.
Buttoned over a roll-neck on a cold harbour walk, or over a suit to a December dinner. Black or khaki.
